America’s Mart Atlanta

Yesterday, I went to my first trade show ever: The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market! That is a mouthful, isn’t it?

It was exhausting, exhilarating, educational and tons of fun!

AmericasMart

13 stories in ONE building. Bring it on!

I went with my fabulous fashion teacher to help out with one of her projects (which I will tell you about in detail later) and to be a pen provider, coffee holder + cheerleader! Can you believe the crazy lady flew in from Richmond in the wee hours of the morning, went all day at the show, and flew back late at night? You gotta suffer for fashion, ladies and gents.

There were so many interesting, creative companies there. In no particular order, my favorites of the day were:

Tegu – Children’s toys so gorgeous, adults will want to buy some for themselves! It’s like IKEA meets Lincoln logs.

Mercado Global – Beautiful pillows, bags and accessories made by co-ops in Guatemala I have traveled in Guatemala, and am really passionate about this company and what they are doing!

Don’t let our smiles fool yah, we were EXHAUSTED by this point!

Mata Traders – Super cool fair trade apparel and jewelry, produced in India and Nepal. The girls at the booth were super sweet too!

Reborn Designs by Samantha Barnett Evans – Minimal jewelry with a coastal, Southern flair. We met Samantha + her mom and dad! Such a great family!

AtlMartMe!

I picked up my jacket (by Bill Blass) from Goodwill! Love that color green

Rewined Candles – Natural soy candles made from repurposed wine bottles. The picture of rustic elegance, based out of Charleston! Major cool points for their display + the wooden business card.

Fluffy Co. – Cool products, cool company + made in the US. It doesn’t get much better than that!

LostintheMart!

We got a little turned around (Read: Lost) a couple of times!

I’ll keep you updated about why we were there, (hint: jewelry) but in the meanwhile, check those companies out!

We had a wonderful time, got a lot accomplished, and now have to turn around and face the new semester on monday!

The Varsity!

A must for everyone visiting Atlanta! (Although I will admit, I just turned around in the parking lot ;)

It was great to be home in Atlanta for a month, but now I’m headed back to Richmond!

2013.

Tonight is the eve of a new year. For a few moments, we all hang in between the exciting, unknown of the future and the comfortable reminiscence of the past. Anyone a little giddy about it? *two hands in the air!*

I should just come out and say it: I love New Year’s resolutions! I get a little frustrated when people say, “the only resolution I’ve ever kept is to not make any more resolutions!” and everyone gets a good laugh. Ha ha ha. I think that is bollocks.

It frustrates me, because I do not see how we, as intelligent, beautiful human beings cannot come up with a long list, a short list, or even one thing we would like to change for the better about ourselves this year and stick to it. Do a little soul searching, find what it is you want to accomplish this year, and take the steps to see it done!

If you always forget your resolutions, make them your desktop screensaver or put post its on your mirror! Tape an index card to your steering wheel if you have to. Have a close friend or family member hold you accountable. If you are new at the whole goal/resolution thing, the trick is to come up with something you can actually accomplish and present it numerically. For instance, “read 10 books,” “save $200 a month” or “be able to run 6 miles a day.” That way you can chart your progress!

My resolutions are a bit more vague, but in my head I know the steps I must take to accomplish them.

Have a look! The photo is from here.

2013Resolutions

Readers (all 100 of you ; ), even if you do not make a resolution this year, I sincerely hope you all have a wonderful 2013. Find what makes you happy, do it to the best of your ability and never forget to love others. Let’s start a new year together! Ahhh so exciting.

Please be safe out there tonight!

God bless!

Nineteen Years Ago Today…

I was born.

A few months later, I looked like this…

Definitely missed my calling as the Gerber baby. Look at dem chubby cheeks.

On my birthday, I typically make posts about all my favorite music, images, my current style inspirations, what websites I like at the moment, all that jazz. Instead of doing that this time, a few days ago I made a new page for all my online Inspiration.

So take this opportunity to go check it out if you haven’t already! I’ll be updating it constantly with new tumblrs, design sites, music channels, cool online stores, all the things that inspire me on a daily basis!

If you care to see how I have changed through the years, seventeen and eighteen are here for yah!
