The Sounds are Something to Die For

Last Monday night, to celebrate my 18th birthday, the Webb twins and I went to the Masquerade to see our favorite Swedish rockers, The Sounds! I haven’t been that excited for a concert in a long time. I just knew something incredible was going to happen…
 Felix. Fredrik. Maja. Johan. Jesper.
Aren’t familiar with them?
Get Familiar.
Maja is known for being a little, how shall we say? charismatic onstage

“The world is not ending, I’m telling you I’m one of a kind.”
Yes. Yes you are Maja Ivarsson.
During the show Maja let me sing with her for a lil’ bit…
and then THIS happened!
During their encore performance of Hope You’re Happy Now (a.k.a. best revenge song ever made) Maja let me get onstage and sing/dance like a fool with her! So. Much. Fun!
Such an incredible performer!
I thought my night had been made, but the real highlight of my birthday/maybe, possibly life thus far happened after the show.
Here’s the shirt Maja wore during the concert
(that’s one of The Sounds’ merch shirts)
And here’s my July 4th shirt, you remember it, right?
After the show, Maja was gracious enough to come talk to me and some other waiting fans. She said she liked my shirt. I said, “I made it. Do you want it?” and… well? The rest is history!
The fringe was a tad confusing, but we got it sorted :)

Now I have Maja Ivarsson’s shirt! And the coolest part?
She wore mine to a concert in Austin, Texas!!!
Personally, I think she looks wayyyyy cooler in it than I ever did!
What a frickin’ rockstar.
Those incredible photos are from Randy Cremean. To see more, visit Soundcheck Magazine
I’m sure she’ll never read this, but if you do, Maja, I really appreciate you taking the time to come talk to the fans. It’s so kind of you and I know you do that all the time, but you don’t realize how much it means to us and how much it meant to me. Enjoy the shirt, even though you’re not living in America (and you’re not sorry ;) I’ll wear yours with pride!

Thanks to Tori and Laura for documenting!

Artist of the Week: Jacques

I stumbled across Mark Warren Jacques when searching for the modern artist who painted works for my hotel in Buenos Aires (the search for the mysterious PUIG is still on) and I love this guy! I feel there is a deeper meaning to his work (I think the pyramids symbolize humans… seriously… think about it) but for the present moment, his art makes me really happy. That’s all you could ask for right? Art that makes you feel good.
To see more of his work, please visit Mark’s gorgeous website! (All photos are from there)

And if you’re feeling spunky, he also tumbles

When you look at the art on his website, you might also want to be listening to this.
Just a suggestion :)
